Exclusive Memories with Jin Jun Mei
Around 1568, Lapsang Souchong, the originator of black tea worldwide, was born in Tongmu Village, Wuyi Mountain, marking the dawn of global black tea history. In 2005, Jiang Yuanxun, the 24th generation inheritor of Lapsang Souchong, led his team to create Jin Jun Mei. This precious tea is made from spring tea buds based on the traditional production techniques of Lapsang Souchong, which is celebrated for its "golden liquor, sweetness in every sip, and a lingering floral aroma." This innovation not only filled the gap in China's high-end black tea market but also propelled the development of the Chinese black tea industry through standardization and branding.
The past two decades of Zheng Shan Tang Jin Jun Mei are a two-way rush between tea and people, and a heartfelt dialogue between tradition and modernity. Moving forward, may this tea continue to accompany you through every cherished moment, with warmth, richness, and unwavering artisanal craftsmanship.We sincerely invite every tea enthusiast to join us in writing this tea story that transcends time with old photos, old items and sincere blessings

Old friends' stories about Zhengshantang

Mr. Yuanxun and I met in 2002, when Jin Jun Mei had not yet been introduced. In 2008, I opened a shop specializing in rock tea, and stocked a batch of smoked Xiaozhong in green tins (50g, red tins are also available). At the time, many tea drinkers in Shantou had little awareness of Lapsang Souchong, and Jin Jun Mei remained a rarity—even among those who had heard of it, few had tasted it. I like drinking black tea, but I have never tried Jin Jun Mei. In 2009, during a sourcing trip to Wuyi Mountain, I went to Tongmu Village with my friends to visit Mr. Jiang Yuanxun. He demonstrated Jin Jun Mei’s production process and personally brewed both Jin Jun Mei and century-old bush black tea (百年老枞) for us. The Jin Jun Mei’s delicate floral-fruity sweetness was unlike any other red tea I had experienced. Years later, as counterfeit Jin Jun Mei flooded the market, friends often sought my help in authentication, and I took pride in explaining its unique craftsmanship. Historically, the evaluative terms for red tea were "strong, robust and fresh." Following the emergence of Jin Jun Mei, red teas on the market became less intense, adopting lighter fermentation and floral notes.

My first encounter with Zhengshan Tang’s Jin Jun Mei black tea remains unforgettable. The amber-hued liquor, brimming with honeyed fragrance, instantly captivated my palate.Born in Wuyi Mountain, I was engaged in tea sales in Heilongjiang. Later, I witnessed the intangible cultural heritage craftsmen shaking the tea leaves by hand in the Wuyi Mountain Tea Factory. The tea leaves collided with the honey fragrance in the flying bamboo sieves, and I understood the importance of the 400-year inheritance of the "Lapsang Souchong" craft.Now it is the spring tea season again, and I opened the familiar five-color tea cans again. When brewing the tea, the pine smoke fragrance reminded me of the days when I picked tea in the morning mist of Tongmuguan with the tea farmers in my hometown on the mossy stone road.*Note: The tea shown by the tea friend can be called the first generation of "archaeological level" packaging, which is rare on the market.
@正琪茗茶

In 2009, my father got sick and relatives sent him two cans of Kuding tea. I drank it with my father. We drank until he recovered. After that, my father stopped drinking it because it tasted too strong. On the contrary, I fell in love with tea. From Kuding tea at the beginning, to black tea in winter, green tea in summer, and jasmine tea for guests, I basically drank all kinds of tea.In the winter of 2012, I started to learn more about it. I also had some savings and started to treat myself better. I bought Zhengshantang Jinjunmei. From the beginning, I bought some trial packs based on other people's recommendations and began to like their taste. I tried 1568 (it is said that black tea was invented that year). A good pot goes with good tea. I also took out the pot that had just arrived. As soon as the tea was opened, I could smell a little fragrance. The fragrance was not strong, and the taste was refreshing. The aftertaste was good but the taste was relatively light.I can’t find many of the previous photos, but I still have the photos of when I first got into Jin Jun Mei. Drinking tea has now become a part of my life. I hope I can drink tea every day in the future, then I’ll be content.
